Pepper spray & Mace sprays

Pepper Spray in my opinion is the best self defense product we carry for personal defense against an assailant.

As a matter of fact, I just read a story about a month ago from the time of this writing in my local newspaper about an incident that happened just a few streets down the hill from where we are located. A robber wearing a camo mask went into a drug store with a shotgun in broad daylight trying to rob them of their narcotics medications. An employee decided to take the robber on and a struggle began with the robber and the shotgun fired off a couple of times. The other employees were all ducking behind counters and hiding and thankfully none were shot from these shotgun blasts. The employee who was fighting with the robber just happened to have some red hot pepper spray as the news paper called it and he blasted the robber with the spray. It stopped the robber. He dropped his shotgun and somehow managed to get out of the store and get into his car outside. He drove away but I believe he wrecked down the street and police got him and arrested him. The police said his face was orange from the pepper spray. No one was hurt in this incident. If that brave employee had not had that pepper spray, who knows how this situation would of turned out.

That is a real life story that I read from my local news paper. There are many other stories around. Hardly none like that around here anyway where someone actually defended themselves against a robber in a store robbery but there are plenty of store robberies around here though and most of the time the robbers get away. There was another incident last year I believe where a woman gave up the cash from the register to the crook at a dry cleaning shop and only to have her throat slit by the robber because he was afraid she could ID him. You never know when something like this can happen. It very smart to be prepared and pepper spray is the best self defense product we carry in my opinion.

I just used that story above for reference to show you how pepper spray works and how effective it is most of the time against assailants. However there is people out there, a very small number though but I still have to mention it. Mace or Pepper spray may or may not have an effect on because some can keep there eyes open and can tolorate the pain and continue the attack.But most attackers will be stopped when you spray them with pepper spray. The manufacters who make the pepper spray put such warnings on the labels and packaging of the products.

That story above again I just used that to show you how pepper spray saved his life and how effective it can be on attackers. The person who defended himself used pepper spray because that is what he had. His life was in danger and this was basically a last ditch self defense option he had to try to stop the robber.

Please note, I'm not telling you to get a pepper spray to defend yourself from assailants armed with weapons, expecially a gun. That can be very dangerous and is not recommended. If you are assailed by someone with a gun, knife or other weapon and they just want your wallet, purse, jewelry, etc. Just let them have those items. If after you surrender your possessions and the assailant tries to make you leave with him, or threatens your life in someway, or starts attacking you, and you happen to have a spray, then that is the time to use it. It that moment its life and death and the spray is your defense. As soon as you spray the assailant, RUN AWAY FAST. Or if for some reason you cannot run away, spray the attacker or attackers until the pepper spray is gone or if its already been sprayed on the attacker and its gone and the attacker still won't stop the attack, kick the assailant, punch him, or do whatever it takes to get away.

Also don't be shy on spraying an attacker if one burst didn't do the trick to stop him. Keep spraying him until the can is empty if he won't stop. Then once you can get away call the police. Don't try to be a hero and apprehend and assailant yourself.

The best companion to a pepper spray is a loud personal alarm. If your attacked and your in the city or other area where there are other people, that can help deter assailants because they know that draws too much attention and other people will come to help you.

Again remember, pepper spray or mace spray is a non lethal weapon. Even though its the best effective non lethal weapon we carry, its rare but some people who have reduced sensitivity to pain, pepper spray, may or may not deter or stop these few individuals. Since pepper spray again is a non lethal weapon. In my opinion, you should always have a back up weapon or plan. This goes for all non lethal weapons even stun guns. However again pepper spray is the best non lethal self defense product to have to protect yourself with. Its better than a stun gun.

If you want to be totally prepared, consider purchasing a personal alarm and stun gun with your pepper spray.

My top pick for the best pepper spray we carry is Mace 10% Pepper Gel. This stuff is not like normal pepper spray. This is gel and it covers the entire face of an assailant. It almost reminds you of a face covered in shaving cream. I carry this product myself and I entrust my life with it. I highly recommend this product.
