Using Telescopic Steel Batons
Telescopic Steel Batons are great self defense weapons for protection and are quite effective when used properly. However these batons can also kill someone if they are used in the wrong manner and that can lead into serious legal such as law suits, criminal charges if the use of the baton wasn't justified in a self defense situation.
There is information on the internet about how to correctly use these telescopic steel batons for protection. There should also be dvds or videos available on the internet on how to use these. We at Cook Self Defense Products don't carry any instructional dvds or books on how to use these unfortunately. But I can give you some tips:
(1) Never hit someone over the head with a baton. This certainly can cause death expecially if hit hard over the head. But on the other hand, if you feel your life is 100% in danger and your in fear for your life or someone elses, than a hit to the head maybe justifiable in a life or death situation.Remember to know your laws in your state regarding force laws and deadly force laws in personal protection.
(2) The best strike areas for hitting an assailant who is unarmed is in the stomach area, legs, arms, & shoulders. But remember if you use a baton against an unarmed person and you were just fighting with the person in a verbal arguement and you use force on him without him trying to attack you or him attacking you first, you will get into trouble with probably assault charges. An assailant who is armed with a knife or club, a good hit to the forearm which the assailant is holding the weapon with a baton may cause him to let go of the weapon & drop it. Than run away if possible then call the authorities. Don't provoke an assailant or try to beat him with the baton after you disarm him because you will then be in trouble with the law. If you encounter an assailant with a gun, I suggest you don't even try to use a baton against him. You could be shot before you even have a chance to act. The only way in my opinion that you should use a baton against an armed assailant with a gun is if he said he is going to kill you after you surrendered your personal effects if its a robbery or he is trying to kidnap you or is just out to harm you or kill you.
(3) Finally make sure telescopic steel batons are legal where you live. Remember, this article is based solely on my opinions. if you really want more complete in depth information search the internet for instructional books or dvds or websites with more insight on using expandable telescopic steel batons.
