How does a Stun Gun work?
A
stun gun is an electrical self-defense device that uses high voltage to
stop an attacker. Touching a person with the prongs on the stun gun quickly
immobilizes the attacker. However, because the amperage is very low, no
serious or permanent injury is inflicted. The amperage is miliamps in stun guns.
The stun gun is designed to key into the nervous system. It dumps its
energy into the muscles at a high pulse frequency that makes the muscles
work very rapidly, but not efficiently. This rapid work cycle depletes
blood sugar by converting it to lactic acid all in just seconds. The resulting
energy loss makes it difficult to move and function. At the same time,
the tiny neurological impulses that travel throughout the body to direct
muscle movement are interrupted. This causes disorientation and loss of
balance and leaves the attacker in a passive and confused condition for
several minutes. Still, there is no significant effect on the heart and
other organs.
As a general rule, a one-half second contact will repel and startle the
attacker, giving some pain and muscle contraction. One to two seconds
will cause muscle spasms and a dazed mental state. Over three seconds
will cause loss of balance and muscle control, mental confusion and disorientation. However the higher the voltage the faster the assailant will be taken down and allowing you time to get away.
The stun gun is legal in most states. However, before you order one, please
make sure they are legal where you live. You may check
here first. We currently don't ship any stun guns to NY,MA,MI,IL,NJ, or the city of Philadephia.
The
electrical shock that emits from the unit will not pass from the
person being stunned to the person doing the stunning. The effect
is localized only in the affected area and does not pass through
the body. Even if you or the attacker are wet or standing in water,
you will not get shocked. If you have any other questions about
these devices, give us a call or send us an email.
We will be happy to answer you right away.

The difference between Air Tasers and Stun Guns
With all the reports you hear about in the news about Tasers™ and stun guns there seems to be some confusion alot of people have
knowing the difference between the 2 from all the reports from the media reporting stories about Tasers and they refer to them as "Stun Guns".
Stuns Guns are in fact devices which you have to physically be in touching distance to use on someone and the device has to actually make contact to be effective and are highly effective. However Air Tasers or Taser Guns as many people refer to them as shoot 2 probes connected to 15 ft of wire or if its the
police version taser its 21 ft. Tasers give you the advantage of being a safe distance away from the attacker unlike a stun gun where you have to be up close and personal with the assailant. The optimum distance to shoot someone with a taser is 7-10 feet away. That is basically the difference between the 2, reach.
